BRAND FANATIC


Hi, my name is Randy van Essen. I've been passionate about brands since my teenage years.  After my Marketing Management Master I started working on various brands. Two decades of brand marketing experience in various industries, from sporting goods and lifestyle to telecom and more, have given me a unique perspective on brand marketing. As a data-driven and creative marketing & communications specialist, I have developed successful global and local brand strategies. These were brought to life by distinctive and successful advertising campaigns and (digital) media strategies based on real consumer insights. I have led and inspired local, regional, and global multidisciplinary high performing brand marketing teams. 


I can set something in motion. During my career I’ve introduced a lot of firsts at the companies I’ve worked for: first strategic partnership between Nickelodeon and an oil company during my time at BP, first 25th sneaker anniversary with 25 sneaker stores which resulted into the global Certified Network at Reebok, the first digital motion picture House of No Limits, fully shot on a mobile phone for the first time and released on YouTube at Halloween to support the unlimited proposition at T-Mobile. The first 360 bikini campaign featuring multiple influencers to support women to buy the right bikini to match their style and fit supported by the implementation of the Fit finder on O’Neill.com to name a few. 


All these firsts are based on clear brand marketing strategies and consumer insights. Answering questions such as: How do we connect and move the target audience? How do we make them part of your community? How do you link this with longer term brand building and short term sales results? How do we make brands grow?
